TEAL
was designed for the Fathoms company as an 18.25 LOA multi-purpose
Catamaran workboat vessel that can be utilised extensively around
the coast of the UK and Europe as a workboat, support vessel or for
charter. She is capable of working up to 150 miles from shore or for
close-to-shore work as required and is capable of undertaking many
tasks.
TEAL's special features and gear include a four point mooring
system and low speed manoeuvrability (a feature that is particularly
useful when carrying out Survey tasks).
TEAL is powered by two Scania DI12 41M engines, each rated at
410hp. The engines drive conventional handed open propellers through
Twin Disc MG5114 SC gearboxes to allow TEAL to achieve a maximum
speed of 12 knots. Electrical power is provided by a 32 kVA genset.
12v and 24v DC power supplies are also available. TEAL if built of
heavy duty steel (with 8mm steel aft deck) and carries both a 10 ton
A-Frame designed by Ker Associates and a 18tm HIAB.
Her ample accommodation features a galley, shower and heads.
Berths are provided for up to 4 crew when working on extended and
overnight operations. Her multiple roles can include dive support,
salvage, cargo recovery and debris clearance; hydrographic and
geophysical operations, environmental and scientific studies, ROV
operations, personnel transfer/cargo supply operations, buoy laying
and general workboat duties.

Ker has been subcontracted to undertake the
realisation of several roofbox design concepts created for sale by
Thule and Halfords. Ker Associates used advanced surfacing modelling
techniques to produce the shapes which were then sent off for
tooling by CNC.
Ker carried out hull design and stability calculation
for the Sealander amphibious vehicle. It is in service ferrying up
to 46 passengers to & from a small island off the Cornish coast
in England. The owners here required the vehicle to be a lifeline to
the main land even when their fleet of smaller passenger boats were
unable to put to sea. The final specification included twin engines,
two hydraulic lift stairways and a disabled person's lift that
doubles as a cargo loading platform.
